As co-partner in Ponaman Healthcare Consulting, Dr. Judith Mello serves as the Medical Director, providing clinical and technical expertise. Dr. Mello reviews and provides recommendations on all initiatives related to primary care, chronic care, and evidence-based guideline development. An experienced physician in the field of primary care with a specialty in geriatrics, she has been in practice since 1988.

Working initially with inpatient psychiatric patients and then serving as the Assistant Director of the Scottsdale Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Mello has had the opportunity to serve patients throughout the socioeconomic spectrum and brings her individualized, compassionate care to every patient and family she encounters. While teaching at the Family Medicine residency program, Dr. Mello directed the Geriatric Program and conducted patient in-home assessments for the Arizona Adult Protective Services Division. She also developed curriculum for the Practice Management Seminar Series, which educates residents on the business aspects of medicine.

While at Scottsdale Healthcare, Dr. Mello served as the Director for Continuing Medical Education (CME). She also actively participated on the Quality Resource Management (QRM) Committee.

Dr. Mello received her B.S. in biology from Arizona State University, her M.D. from The University of Arizona, her residency training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at The University of Arizona. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics and since 2003 has maintained a solo private practice in Family and Geriatric Medicine in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Areas of interests include wellness and the impact lifestyle has on the health and well-being of the individual. She volunteers her time teaching fitness dance classes at a Women’s Resource Center.
